An artwork exhibition of artists of Bayan-Ulgii aimag is taking place at the Yeosu Museum of Art in Yeosu, the Republic of Korea between September 2 and 28. 26 artworks depicting the beautiful natural attractions and ethnic heritage of the aimag painted by six artists are on display at the exhibition. 

Director of the Local Studies Museum of Bayan-Ulgii province said, “A working group led by Curator of the Yeosu Museum of Art of the Republic of Korea, Ms. Seo Bong Hee worked in Bayan-Ulgii province in 2018. During their visit, a memorandum was signed between the Local Studies Museum of Bayan-Ulgii  province and the Yeosu Museum of Art to organize an exhibition of the works of the two countries’ artists, and promote them to art researchers.”

Bayan-Ölgii 

Aong 21 aimags of Mongolia, Bayan-Ölgii is the westernmost one. This is the country's only Muslim and Kazakh-majority aimag, that established in August 1940. Ölgii is the capital of this aimag.

Ulgii, located 1055 miles (1,698 km) from Ulaanbaatar. It has 45,705 square km of areas with the population of 100,000 plus. Bayan-Ulgii is a far-off land of high mountains (the Mongol Altai - Tavan Bogd mountains with 4,373 m peak) torrents and glaciers, inhabited by Kazakh, a minority who has a different culture from the Mongols, herding yaks and goats and hunting with trained eagles.

Bayan-Olgii, the ethnic groups of this aimag are comprised of the Kazakh, Khalkh. Durvud, Uriankhai and Tuva. About 90% of Bayan-Ulgii's population are Kazakh, almost all of them Muslim. The remaining 10% are mostly obscure minority groups.
