Robocon  Each year the competition has different topics, but generally speaking two or more robots must be used to complete the tasks. One of the robots would be manual control while the others are automatic. The best robots usually weight more than 10 kg and span in one square meter area. To build the robots, contestants, who are restricted to be undergraduate students, must possess rich knowledge in programming, mechanical designand electronic circuit design. Each game is between two teams, often named red and blue. The playing field is symmetrical and robots from both teams start at the same condition (except for Robocon 2015 which employed a turn-based game based on badminton).  [Source: ABU_Robocon_2019_Web] 18th ABU Robocon 2019 Mongolia Th...

World’s oldest evidence of horse dentistry

World’s oldest evidence of horse dentistry found in Mongolia That dental practice, which dates to as early as about 2800 years ago, coincided with the appearance in Mongolia of metal bits that made it easier for riders to control horses. Oldest evidence of horse dentistry Mongolian pastoralists were trying to remove troublesome teeth from horses’ mouths almost 3200 years ago, making those mobile herders the earliest known practitioners of horse dentistry, a new study finds. Ger : The Mongolian Tradition

Image

Ideally suited to Mongolia's harsh terrain and lifestyle, the ger is called yurt by many foreigners. But, Mongolians don't particularly like this Russian labeling of their national dwelling ...so call it a ger. Traditional Cloths of Mongolia

Image
Mongolian Dress Mongolian dress has changed little since the days of the empire, because it is supremely well-adapted to the conditions of life on the steppe and the daily activities of pastoral nomads. However, there have been some changes in styles which distinguish modern Mongolian dress from historic costume. The deel, or kaftan, is the Mongolian traditional garment worn on workdays and special days. It is a long, loose gown cut in one piece with the sleeves; it has a high collar and widely overlaps at the front. The deel is girdled with a sash. Mongolian deels always close on the wearer's right and traditionally have five fastenings. Modern deels often have decoratively cut overflaps, small round necklines, and sometimes contain a Mandarin collar. Depictions of Mongols during the time of the empire, however, show deels with more open necklines, no collars, and very simply cut overflaps, similar to the deels still worn by lamas in moder...
