COVID-19 prevention training :  Mongolian peacekeepers in Afghanistan Mongolian peacekeepers in Afghanistan takes part in COVID-19 prevention .  The 11th batch of Mongolian peacekeepers, serving jointly with the German Armed Forces in the NATO-led “Resolute Support” mission in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, organized training in cooperation with the military trainers of Germany and Belgium on “Survival skills” and “COVID-19 prevention” at the site and mutually exchanged experiences. The training on survival skills featured theoretical and practical training in sheltering, firefighting, water retrieval, rope knotting, topographic orientation, and tactical retrieval in the desert region. Moreover, a joint training on COVID-19 prevention was held for health and hygiene doctors of Germany, camp Marmal and other military doctors. Virtual chess competition against COVID-19

Mongolia organized a Virtual chess competition to raise funds for the fight against COVID-19 Virtual chess competition To provide emotional support and encouragement for health care workers of the National Center of Communicable Diseases who are protecting the public from the COVID-19 pandemic, Mongolian chess players will hold a virtual fundraising competition, We Are One Family, on April 25. Grandmasters and International Masters who have been exhibiting their skills to the world - B.Khatanbaatar, D.Sharavdorj, Ts.Batchuluun, B.Gundavaa, B.Munguntuul, T.Batchimeg, and other prominent players - are to take part in the competition.

Mongolian Wrestlers World Top-10

Picture Credit : VOM website  United World Wrestling (UWW) renewed the 2020 world rankings based on the wrestlers’ score which they harvested during their participation in the tournaments including Matteo Pellicone, European Championships, Asian Championships, and Pan-American Championships. Two male and three female athletes of the Mongolian Wrestling team ranked in the World Top-10. Specifically, State Honored Athlete E.Bekhbayar and IM T.Tulga  ranked 10 th  in 53 kg and in 65 kg respectively. As for the female athletes, IM B.Bolortuya ranked 7 th  in 55 kg, IM B.Shoovdor ranked 5 th  in 59 kg and the Hero of Labor S.Battsetseg ranked 8 th  in 68 kg.

The ‘Genghis Khan’ exhibition in Kansas USA

Picture from VOM Web The ‘Genghis Khan’ exhibition about the Mongol Empire as well as the Great Khan of the Empire and his descendants has officially opened in Kansas City in the U.S. state of Missouri. Around 300 guests including Ambassador of Mongolia to the United States Otgonbayar attended the opening event held at Union Station Kansas City, enjoying Mongolian folk art concert. The exhibition, which is of great importance in presenting Mongolia’s customs, culture, life, and history to U.S. people and deepening understanding between the peoples of the two countries, offers an opportunity to experience life in 13th-century Mongolia by visiting replicas of tents, battlegrounds, and marketplaces and view 200 spectacular objects from that period such as gold jewelry and ornaments, silk robes, musical instruments, pottery, and sophisticated weaponry.

Mongolian team wins second place

Mongolian team wins second place at the 18th ABU Robocon 2019 Mongolia. ABU Robocon started in 1991, extended the concept from NHK Robocon which restricted to teams from Japan only. Robocon  Each year the competition has different topics, but generally speaking two or more robots must be used to complete the tasks. One of the robots would be manual control while the others are automatic. The best robots usually weight more than 10 kg and span in one square meter area. To build the robots, contestants, who are restricted to be undergraduate students, must possess rich knowledge in programming, mechanical designand electronic circuit design. Each game is between two teams, often named red and blue.
