Selenge Aimag Museum Exhibition

Selenge Aimag Museum Exhibition on peoples revolution started. The Selenge Aimag Museum houses display dating back to the independent movement of Mongolia in 1921.

In 1948, the museum was founded. Its status was promoted in 1960 to the Local Study Cabinet and in 1968 to the Local Museum. At the time, it was a branch of the People's Revolution Museum (now the National Museum of Mongolia). Then, by combining two museums, the Selenge Aimag Museum and the Museum of Altanbulag, the Central Museum of Selenge Aimag was founded in 2004. There are over 3500 displays in the museum now.

The exhibits are unique since historical details relating to the Revolution of the People are preserved. Historical images show the People's Revolution's victory, the heavy machine gun Maxim and the things used by military leader D. Sukhbaatar, Marshal Kh Choibalsan and four regimental commanders who played a leading role in the victory of the People's Revolution.

The museum displays are enriched in three categories: natural and ethnographic objects and objects related to the pride of Selenge Aimag. Besides, biological, archaeological, and precious metal artifacts are also protected. The museum holds, in particular, the skeleton of a 2 m 10 cm tall man, considered a historical and cultural discovery was dating back to 2200 years ago and the discovery of the horse skeleton of that time. People ask, given the skeleton, how tall the man was. Furthermore, there is a chain mail of a soldier of the 13th century. It is the only one found in Mongolia (a very rare finding) and is special as being made of braided metal with a closed-loop.

Moreover, there are carved images of Buddhist deities of Maitreya and Janraisig shaped by High Saint Zanabazar. Also, the museum preserves some of the personal properties of N.Bilegsaikhan, who was serving as the first Minister in charge of Altanbulag regional affairs, the first administrative unit of Mongolia.
